Celebrate Riva Day – Five Years of Respect, Inclusion and Achievement

This year, we’re celebrating a very special milestone as Riva Primary School turns five.

Riva Day marks the anniversary of our school’s naming and is our annual celebration of the students, staff, families and wider community who make Riva such a special place to learn, grow and belong. We invite all families to join us on Friday 7th August as we celebrate five years of Respect, Inclusion and Achievement.

Kindergarten & Pre-primary Families

Gates open: 11:55am

Families can enter via either of the following gates:

  • Between Administration and Learning Block 1 (Early Childhood)
  • Between Learning Block 1 and The Hub

Simply look for the Riva flags to guide you.

From 12:00pm, families are invited into classrooms to participate in our Riva Day challenges. Together with your child, you’ll complete a series of fun, hands-on activities inspired by our school values of Respect, Inclusion and Achievement. As each challenge is completed, students will collect a House Token. Once they have collected five House Tokens—one for each year of Riva—they can exchange them for a personalised commemorative Riva Day medal.

At 12:30pm, join your child for a picnic lunch in the Early Childhood area. Bring a picnic rug or folding chairs, enjoy interactive music activities, and celebrate this special milestone together.

We’ll finish with a birthday celebration and a sweet treat before concluding at 1:00pm.

At this time, Kindergarten and Pre-primary students may:

  • Return to class
  • Be signed out to go home with their family
  • Be signed out to remain with their family and participate in the Year 1–6 Riva Day celebrations alongside older siblings

Year 1–Year 6 Families

Gates open: 1:10pm

Families can enter via:

  • Between Administration and Learning Block 1 (Early Childhood)
  • Between Learning Blocks 2 and 3 (Green and Orange Blocks)

Look for the Riva flags at each entrance.

Bring along a picnic lunch and enjoy time together with your children around the school grounds.

From 1:20pm, enjoy performances by our school Choir and talented Year 6 IMSS musicians before students return to classrooms at 1:50pm to share their Riva Day values challenges with their families.

Join in the activities, help your child complete the challenges, and celebrate as they earn their House Tokens, and commemorative Riva Day medal.

The afternoon concludes with a birthday treat as we celebrate five wonderful years together.

Help Make a Staff Member’s Day

Riva Day is also our annual Staff Appreciation Day—an opportunity to recognise the incredible people who make a difference in the lives of our students every day. From teachers and education assistants to administration, library, cleaners, gardeners and support staff, every member of Team Riva contributes to making our school such a special place.

There are two wonderful ways you can help us say thank you.

Send a Staff Shout-Out

Leave a message of appreciation for a staff member using our online form. We’ll transform your message into a personalised certificate and present it to them on Riva Day.

You are welcome to submit as many messages as you like.
