Our school is safe and open for learning. At Riva Primary School, we are working with our community in line with the latest advice from the Chief Health Officer to establish and maintain a safe, responsive learning environment for our students, staff and community.

Preventative Measures

• All staff are double-dose vaccinated as of 31^st January 2022, and have had or will have a third (booster) dose vaccine within one month of becoming eligible.
• Ventilation plan in place, including air monitoring and deployment of air purifiers along with mechanical and natural ventilation for every room in the school.
• Enhanced cleaning, including more frequent cleaning of high-contact surfaces.
• The school maintains stock of hand sanitiser and masks, and has handwashing facilities with liquid soap and paper towels and/or hot air hand dryers in all toilets.

How our students, staff and community can help

• Staff, students and parents must stay home when you are sick.
• We request that adults maintain physical distancing from other adults wherever possible.
• Unnecessary physical contact and physical greetings are to be avoided (e.g. handshakes / hugs).
• Covering mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, using a flexed elbow or tissue.
• Disposing of tissues appropriately.
• Washing hands regularly for 20 seconds with soap and water or an alcohol-based sanitiser, including prior to meal breaks.

Masks

The indoor mask mandate is no longer in place. Masks are encouraged where physical distancing is not possible. Staff and students may also choose to continue to wear a mask.

Testing and isolation

Students and staff who are symptomatic must stay home and test for COVID-19.

Refer to the WA Government’s testing and isolation protocols for details on testing and isolation requirements for students and staff who have tested positive for COVID-19 or been identified as close contacts.

If positive, notify the school at riva.ps@education.wa.edu.au and isolate for a minimum of 7 days.

All positive RAT tests must be reported to WA Health at www.healthywa.gov.au/ratregister

Riva is ready and resilient

Wherever learning needs to take place, we’re ready, with a plan to support. While the optimal model is for students to be in their classrooms with our staff and their peers, there may be situations where we will facilitate learning off-site or learning from home.
